Mary Munford Musical Theater Program (Grades 3–5)

The MMES PTA, in partnership with arts to ALL, is offering 3rd–5th graders a fun, after-school theater experience that will end with a performance for the entire Mary Munford community — students, teachers, staff, family, and friends.

Rehearsals:

**Corrected on Tuesday, January 6 - previously listed as Thursday, January 8.**

Attendance

Before you sign up, please make sure your student can attend all rehearsals, for the full time.
If there’s a conflict, please email Wendy Rake at wendy.rake@gmail.com to see if an exception is possible. This is a very popular program, and we want to make sure every spot is used fully.

Cost

  • $200 per student (made in two installments)*

  • Open to: 3rd–5th graders

  • Limited spots — sign up quickly to reserve your student’s place!

Scholarships

We want all interested students to be able to participate.

  • Partial tuition scholarships are available.

  • Please contact Ms. Rose Gordon at rgordon@rvaschools.net to discuss scholarship options.

  • If you need to use scholarship funds for the initial deposit at registration, Ms. Gordon can provide a unique coupon code for qualifying students so you can register without paying the full amount upfront.

Volunteers Needed

Each Mary Munford musical is a labor of love — and we can’t do it without our amazing community!

We’ll need parents, caregivers, and friends to help bring the show to life through:

  • Costume design and sewing

  • Set building and painting

  • Props and backstage support

  • Front-of-house help on performance day

Whether you can give an afternoon or several weeks, your contribution makes a huge difference. Volunteer sign-ups will be shared once the cast is confirmed — and all skill levels are welcome!

Stage Crew Opportunities

For students who prefer to be behind the scenes, there will be opportunities to join the Stage Crew closer to the performance dates. These students will help with sets, props, and scene changes during the show.

Participation is free of charge, and details will be shared later in the rehearsal process.

About arts to ALL

The musical will be led by arts to ALL, a Richmond-based theatre arts organization that brings high-quality theater programming to students in schools and community spaces. Their approach focuses on:

  • Building a strong final performance

  • Creative play and imagination

  • Social and emotional learning

arts to ALL currently teaches in-school programming for our 3rd graders and in multiple Richmond schools and community organizations. A portion of the program cost also helps support similar programming in underfunded schools and centers in the Richmond area.

*The $200 fee already includes a $115/student discount covered by the PTA.
Scholarships (partial tuition) are available. Please contact Ms. Gordon at rgordon@rvaschools.net to discuss.
