The Mary Munford PTA Soccer Program runs for about 8 weeks each fall and spring in partnership with the Richmond City Department of Parks and Recreation, following their policies and guidelines.

  • Ages: Open to children ages 5–12 (elementary school‑aged) from Mary Munford and surrounding schools (must turn 5 by September 30th).
  • Administration: Managed through Sports Engine.
  • Volunteers Needed: Coaches, assistant coaches, and team parents are essential to keep the program running smoothly.

Our soccer program serves children born on or before September 30, 2020 from Mary Munford and other area schools.  PLAYERS MUST TURN 5 BY THE END OF SEPTEMBER 2025 TO QUALIFY.

Please try to place your child with their age group.  The players usually enjoy the season when playing with classmates.  

Age Classifications for the 2026 Spring season will be provided in early 2026.​

Please note the following policies:
 
  • Registration is first-come, first-served and each registration is date and time stamped by the online registration system. We create and fill teams based on volunteer coach availability and field space availability.  We also attempt to create balanced teams with regards to gender and age.
  • Once each division’s limit for players is met, a wait list will start for that division. If we are able to admit anyone from the wait list, it will also be done on a first-come, first-served basis. A player will not be charged any fees until he/she is admitted.  If a space becomes available on a division’s wait list, the player will be admitted to the program and an email will be sent to the email address in the online system. The registration will not be complete however until you log back in and authorize payment.
  • Players may indicate a practice day preference OR a coach preference. Some helpful tips: In arranging carpools, please coordinate with others by selecting the same practice day. If you prefer a particular coach, check with him to see if he’s coaching this season and on what day.
  • We cannot guarantee a player a specific coach or practice day but will do our very best to be accommodating.  Should a player’s team placement be unsatisfactory, we’ll refund all fees minus a $5 processing fee.
  • Due to the complexity of building a large number of teams involving several hundred players, we will not make changes to teams.
  • We encourage coaches, parents, and players to embody and promote the spirit of our recreational soccer program: learn new skills, have fun, and make new friends.

​​Inclement Weather, Field Closings, and Game Cancellations

 

  • Your coach is responsible for reaching out regarding field closings and practice cancellations. Please touch base with your coach regarding their preferred communication method. The Munford league utilizes SportsEngine. Make sure you activate your SportsEngine messaging to get the most up to date information.

    • Once per week at 5pm; 30 min practice, 30 min game

    • Munford fields A-C around tennis and basketball court

  • 8U

    • Practice 1x/week at 5pm; Games Saturdays at 9:30

    • Munford fields 1-4 on the Cary St side
       

  • 10U

    • Practice 2x/week at 5pm; Games Saturdays, time TBD

    • Practice at Munford fields 1-4; Games at various locations throughout city

  • 12U

    • Practice 2x/week at 5pm; Games Saturdays, time TBD

    • Practice at Munford fields 1-4; Games at various locations throughout city

⚽ Soccer Uniforms
To play on a Munford soccer team, each player will need:

  • Red Munford jersey
  • Red socks
  • Black shorts
  • Shin guards (required for all players)
  • Cleats (recommended for safety and performance)

Ordering Jerseys & Socks

  • Jerseys and socks can be ordered during registration.
  • Ordered items will be distributed at the first practice.
  • Families are responsible for providing shorts, shin guards, and cleats.

End‑of‑Season Tradition
Every child receives a medal at the completion of the season to celebrate their participation and teamwork.
